Work with Passion and Work with Passion in Midlife and Beyond provide you with a step-by-step guide to career satisfaction, but you may need help to navigate each step successfully. Resistance may cause you to put off doing the assignments, or you give up when you feel overwhelmed. Even when you complete the exercises, you may have difficulty figuring out what they mean. Working with Nancy will give you the insight and support you need to know yourself, what you want to do with the rest of your life, and how to get there.
The process begins with removing the distractions from your life. This includes clutter, activities, and habits that drain your energy, such as taking care of everybody but you. As you streamline your life you will write an autobiography (the outline for how to do this is in both books) and send that work to Nancy. Writing your story begins with a description of your grandparents’ and parents’ beliefs about money, work, and relationships and ends in the present time. As you go through the story with Nancy, you become aware of the unconscious family and cultural patterns that interfere with success. The remaining chapters focus on designing the work your authentic self wants to do.

A Word of Caution: There is no quick and easy way to discover the work that will give you emotional and financial satisfaction. If that were true, everybody would enjoy their work and make the money they need without any help. Passion is a combination of self-awareness, talent, and perseverance. The setbacks along the way might seem daunting, but if you are willing to slow down and do the self-reflection passion requires, rest assured, you will create the life you were born to live. And you will earn a good living.
